U.S. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert from Colorado and Congressman Eric Burlison from Missouri have introduced a new legislative proposal aimed at dismantling the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This move is part of their ongoing efforts to defend Second Amendment rights.
Congresswoman Boebert stated, "I cannot imagine under any circumstance or administration where the ATF serves as an ally to the Second Amendment and law-abiding firearm owners across America. As co-chair of the Congressional Second Amendment Caucus, I’m eager to continue this effort with Rep. Burlison to defend our constitutional rights. The ATF should be abolished before they eventually abolish our Second Amendment."
Rep. Burlison echoed similar sentiments by saying, "The ATF is emblematic of the deep-state bureaucracy that believes it can infringe on constitutional liberties without consequence. If this agency cannot uphold its duty to serve the people within the framework of the Constitution, it has no place in our government."
The proposed legislation, known as the “Abolish the ATF Act of 2025,” has garnered support from several other representatives including Andy Biggs from Arizona, Mike Collins from Georgia, Bob Onder from Missouri, Andy Ogles from Tennessee, Mary Miller from Illinois, Keith Self from Texas, and Paul Gosar also from Arizona. Congresswoman Boebert has been actively involved in previous attempts to pass similar legislation.
