Congresswoman Lauren Boebert's "Clifton Opportunities Now for Vibrant Economic Yields Act," known as the CONVEY Act, has been signed into law. The legislation directs the Bureau of Land Management to sell a parcel of land to Mesa County for economic development in Clifton, Colorado. This marks the third piece of legislation sponsored or negotiated by Congresswoman Boebert that has been enacted during the 118th Congress.

"I am very proud and happy for Mesa County to finally get our CONVEY Act signed into law! This legislation was the result of working directly with local stakeholders to find a solution when bureaucracy and red tape had gotten in the way for over half a decade. With the CONVEY Act signed into law, our leaders in Mesa County can now move forward with creating job opportunities and growth for the great Coloradans on the Western Slope. I am thankful for House Minority Leader Rose Pugliese, the Mesa County Commissioners, and Senators Hickenlooper and Bennet for working together to produce a major win that puts Coloradans first," said Congresswoman Boebert.

"The CONVEY Act is a great example of what happens when elected officials and community leaders come together to solve problems with hard work and a creative solution that benefits all Coloradans," said Colorado House Republican Minority Leader and Former Mesa County Commissioner Rose Pugliese. "This will be a huge tool for Mesa County to create jobs and long-term prosperity for their community. I cannot thank Congresswoman Boebert enough for listening to local officials and relentlessly pursuing this victory for the Western Slope."

"Congresswoman Boebert refused to back down when it came to fighting for her constituents and passing a solution that worked for everyone," said Mesa County Commissioner Janet Rowland. "After years of roadblocks and stoppages, we are so excited to see the CONVEY Act finally signed into law and for new economic opportunities to become a reality for the people of Mesa County."

For over six years, Mesa County sought to acquire land designated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at fair market value but faced federal obstacles despite BLM's willingness to dispose of it. The CONVEY Act instructs transferring 31.1 acres deemed surplus by federal authorities to Mesa County while requiring compensation at fair market value. Proceeds from this sale will go into the Federal Land Disposal Account under Colorado's Bureau of Land Management control.

The legislation retains 8.25 acres under Bureau of Reclamation ownership from an initially withdrawn parcel intended for specific projects.

The CONVEY Act was introduced on April 28, 2023, passing through the House on February 5, 2024.
