House Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman has announced that Congresswoman Lauren Boebert will serve as the Vice Chair for the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations during the 119th Congress. Boebert will also continue her role on the Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries.
"We must demand accountability and efficiency from agencies who oversee our ranchers, farmers, and energy developers instead of allowing bureaucrats to harm production in these industries and trample the rights of Americans," said Congresswoman Boebert. She emphasized the importance of managing water, public lands, and natural resources responsibly to ensure prosperity for states like Colorado.
Chairman Westerman praised Boebert's commitment to holding officials accountable. "Congresswoman Boebert is a fighter for common sense in our government and has consistently worked to hold our officials accountable for waste, fraud, and abuse," he stated. He described her as an asset to the House Committee on Natural Resources.
The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations oversees federal agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of the Interior, Department of Energy, and Department of Commerce. In line with President-elect Donald J. Trump's Department of Government Efficiency initiative, it aims to improve efficiencies within these agencies while eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.
In previous sessions, this subcommittee held the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service accountable for its gray wolf recovery plan and exposed delays by the Bureau of Land Management in permitting new mines.
