U.S. Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, alongside House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman and Western Slope Oil & Gas Association Executive Director Chelsie Miera, has voiced opposition to the Biden-Harris Administration's latest land management decisions affecting Colorado and Utah. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently announced changes that could significantly impact oil and gas exploration in these regions.

Congresswoman Boebert criticized the administration's actions, stating: “Once again, the Biden-Harris Administration and the radical progressives in charge of BLM are attempting to lock up our public lands from critical uses like oil & gas exploration." She expressed concern over potential economic impacts, particularly regarding jobs in Colorado's oil and gas sector. "Our children will lose out on millions of dollars for education from this tyrannical seizure of our land," she added.

Chairman Westerman echoed similar sentiments, describing the BLM's actions as prioritizing environmental activists over local economic needs. He remarked: “By limiting the ability of domestic energy producers to use our public lands, the Biden-Harris Administration will continue to drive up energy costs for hard-working American families."

Chelsie Miera also weighed in on behalf of industry workers, saying: "In a state with the most stringent regulations on oil and gas development... it is frustrating for our oil & gas employees to watch the Biden-Harris Administration continue to make production... nearly impossible in Colorado."

The recent decisions involve amendments to resource management plans that could restrict energy production across significant areas managed by BLM. These changes include establishing protective buffers around Gunnison Sage-Grouse habitats and closing off areas with low and medium potential for oil and gas development.
