Planning for a Drill Campaign
This is a brief webinar that covers the many aspects that go into planning and executing a successful drill campaign. ‘Drill Campaign’ is an all-encompassing term used to include diverse drilling methods and program objectives. Drill methods might include direct-push, cable tool, mud rotary, rotasonic, hollow-stem auger, reverse circulation or diamond core methods. All of these methods have certain planning elements in-common. These elements include fuel and water, supplies, site security, logistics, materials handling, site safety, access and egress, utilities, transportation and personnel considerations. It is the intent of this webinar to share real-world, tactical and practical experience and advice to assist an aspiring or seasoned geologist to get a better grasp on planning a drill campaign.
Matthew Rhoades, CPG, RG is a consulting geologist with nearly 40 years of professional experience. He has a BSc and an MSc in Geology as well as an MBA. Matt started his career as a wellsite geologist; mudlogging on oil rigs all over the West. From the oil patch, he transitioned to environmental consulting and hydrogeology. Matt spent more than fifteen years focused on contaminated groundwater characterization and remediation; primarily fuels and chlorinated solvents. From that he transitioned to groundwater resource development. From developing groundwater resources he migrated to mine water issues and mining. Matt has worked throughout the mid-western and western US as well as several countries in South America, Mexico and Canada. He is the former State Geologist for New Mexico. Matt was recently the President and CEO of United Battery Metals Corp., a Canadian junior mining company developing vanadium resources on the Colorado Plateau. He is a Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) through the American Institute of Professional Geologists and a registered or professional geologist in six states. Matt is the recent National 2022 President for the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG).
