La Veta recently issued the following announcement.

The Town of La Veta tests the emergency sirens on the first Friday of every month 11:00 AM. All sirens will be activated simultaneously and the test lasts for approximately 30 seconds.
A Code Red notification will be broadcast approximately 30 minutes prior to the test to remind residents that this is a test of the La Veta warning system. The Town is required to perform a monthly test of the emergency sirens as a condition of the warranty.
