Mayor hosting Virtual Community Connections with update on COVID-19 and Taking Questions from Residents.
Mayor Nick Gradisar will host a Virtual Community Connections providing updates on COVID-19 and take questions from residents at 6 p.m. Puebloans can submit their questions during the livestream or they can email mayor@pueblo.us to be asked. Questions must be received by 5:00 p.m. before the livestream starts.
The three main topics for November’s Community Connections will be:
- The alarming rise in COVID-19 in Pueblo.
- The City of Pueblo’s curfew.
- COVID-19 and Pueblo’s Small Business Community.
Joining Mayor Gradisar will be Heather Graham, owner of Graham’s Grill, along with Pueblo Public Health Director Randy Evetts, and Dr. Chris Urbina Medical officer of the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.
Coloradans Urged to Interact Only with Your Household
Pueblo is affected by Governor Jared Polis update on the State’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gov. Polis was joined by state epidemiologist, Dr. Rachel Herlihy. Nearly 1 in 100 Coloradans in Denver are contagious with COVID-19. Because of the critical nature, the Governor and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment are asking Coloradans to do three important things during the month of November: 1) Interact with only those in your household 2) Keep your distance 3) Wear a Mask.
Governor Polis previewed a video that is out online and on television, sharing these three key steps that Coloradans need to be taking in order to slow the spread of this virus. This and other videos are available in English and Spanish.
Pueblo Public Health Director Lays Out Plan to Keep Community Open
Pueblo’s Public Health Director implemented a local public health order in response to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Pueblo County Mitigation Plan Response.
Public Health Order 2020-001 is in response to the growing number of positive cases of COVID-19 and related deaths in Pueblo County, CO, and as requested by CDPHE in Pueblo County’s Mitigation Plan Response.
Based on the state framework for the Safer at Home phases, the increasing case numbers may result in the community roll back activities; county variances may be rescinded, capacity limits for businesses and gatherings will be reduced.
Community COVID-19 Testing Site Open Monday through Friday and 2nd and 4th Saturdays
Pueblo County’s free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site is open Monday through Friday and every second and fourth Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Testing is available in the Livestock Pavilion at the Colorado State Fairgrounds. Enter the site through Gate 4 off Mesa and Gaylord avenues. There is no limit to the number of people who can be tested per day.
Testing is encouraged for people experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, first responders, health care workers, critical infrastructure employees, teachers, and individuals who work in congregate settings. Outbreak Updates
Six New Outbreaks Reported in Pueblo County
Public health officials from the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment announced six new COVID-19 outbreaks in Pueblo County since Monday, November 2, 2020. The outbreaks were reported at Black Hills Energy, CSU-Pueblo Baseball, El Pueblo History Museum, Hartung Glass Industries, Motel 6 of Pueblo, and Pueblo Truss Co.
According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment an outbreak in a facility is defined as two or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 during a 14-day period. Pueblo County has had 54 reported outbreaks, 36 are active and 18 have been resolved.
Pueblo’s COVID-19 Case Updates
Health officials from the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment announced six Pueblo County residents have died related to COVID-19. A 54-year-old male, 74-year-old male, 77-year-old male, 82-year-old female, 86-year-old female, and 96-year-old male who were previously reported positive for COVID-19 died. The reported deaths bring the total in Pueblo County to 54.
Public health officials from the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment announced 327 new positive COVID-19 cases in Pueblo County since Monday, November 2, 2020.
