Announcement1

Pueblo County issued the following announcement on July 22.

Pueblo County Closes in on Variance Threshold

With COVID-19 cases in Pueblo County on the rise, the county officials learned this week it has met one threshold that will require the county to prepare a mitigation plan to help slow the spread of the virus. As per the requirements provided by Pueblo County’s variance that was approved on June 11, if the county has more than 84 new cases of COVID-19 in a two-week period, county leaders must prepare a mitigation plan. County leaders are in the process of working with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to develop the mitigation plan. For more information on the variance and the county’s threshold indicators click here. If Pueblo County’s COVID-19 case counts continue to increase once the mitigation plan is in place, the county could lose its approved variances.

District 70 Schools to Open Remotely

The Pueblo District 70 school board voted to start the school year remotely when students return for the fall semester on August 24. Students will do remote online learning for four weeks. Then, depending on the local COVID-19 positive case conditions, students will transition on September 21 into a hybrid in-person delivery mode with half the students reporting Monday and Tuesday and the other half reporting on Wednesday and Thursday. The hybrid is scheduled to continue through October 8. Full in-person delivery could possibly occur by October 12 if local positive daily COVID-19 cases average 2 or below for two weeks. The school board will provide updates and reviews at board meetings. Information on the remote learning and hybrid schedule will be sent to parents and teachers next week. Read more here.
