The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 9 that it will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect unused, expired, and unwanted prescription medications on Saturday, April 25. The collection is part of National Drug Take Back Day.

National Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe way for people to dispose of prescription drugs that are no longer needed. This effort seeks to reduce the risk of misuse or accidental ingestion by removing these medications from homes.

According to the announcement, residents can bring their medications for safe disposal at designated collection sites. The event encourages community members to participate in keeping their households and neighborhoods safer by preventing possible abuse or environmental harm from improper disposal.

The sheriff’s office said this initiative is an opportunity for citizens to clean out their medicine cabinets and contribute positively to public health and safety. Officials encourage everyone with unused prescriptions to take advantage of the service offered during the event.

More information about drop-off locations and times can be found through local law enforcement channels.
